September 2017 trip to the Lake Champlain region
Lake Champlain is beautiful - New York's Adirondack Mountains descend to its western shore, and Vermont's Green Mountains are visible to the east.

The Lake is 125 miles long north-south, and 14 miles wide at its widest point. It is criss-crossed by a number of car-carrying ferries.

One of the region's attractions is the Ben & Jerry's factory tour - with generous free samples!

We also visited the Shelburne Museum, a huge collection of art and historic structures (including a Lake Champlain lighthouse, an entire fully-stocked general store/pharmacy, a Vermont covered bridge and a Lake Champlain steamship!) accumulated by the heiress to the Domino Sugar fortune.

But the highlight of our trip was the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour (we're both huge Star Trek fans). The set is a meticulous re-creation (from original blueprints) of the starship Enterprise from the original 1960's version of Star Trek.
